Problem importing russian text from MS Word

I am using MS Word for Windows (2000) and Quark Xpress Passport 4.1

In MS Word, translated text that appears in Russian, using Times New Roman font, appears as a series of Question marks when imported (or cut/pasted) into Quark Xpress Passport 4.1... why?!?

My guess would be that you would have to have a "russian" font installed for quark to be able to display it, otherwise it will be limited to the characters defined in times. MS word is not built to publish in the same way Quark Xpress is... commercial printers usually will not accept a word file. A good source for fonts is Adobe.com and/or a possible workaround that I have used in a similar situation is to create a PDF file of the word doc.

Save MS Word doc as Rich Text, in Quark place it using "Get text" in a text box. For me, styles do not work, so, highlight the text and choose the font which works in your Quark. My setup exports to EPS not all the fonts Quark displays on the screeen.

Thanks for both suggestions... however neither has worked. I saved the MS Word document in RTF format... get text produced only an error.

I am using Passport 4.11 with the Cyrillic patch. I can type in Russian in Quark... with several fonts. I've even tried using the same font in Word... still no luck.

Any other suggestions?

Ah, just what i have been looking for but still no answer.

Have Quark Passport 4

Most of the files we are about to get are in Word. Is it possible to paste the following languages into Quark? If so how as i don't seem to be getting anywhere?
