Hi!
Somehow I always get an error message when I try to import an Illustrator 9 file (either .ai or .eps)into Flash 5. It is saying "parts of the file might be lost" or "wrong format".
Is it a bug? Can anyone help me with this?
cheers!

Adobe has gone the extra mile for us by including an export for .swf files. It retains color info perfectly and automatically creates a symbol for any illustrator object containing transparency.
But if I export an swf file from Illustrator I cannot open it in Flash and integrate and manipulate it together with the whole Flash movie.
What I like to do is to make a complex illustration with several layers etc and then import it to flash, where the layers are maintained, so that I can animate different bits of the illustration in different ways.
Can anyone tell me if there's a patch for that import error?
Thanks!

The problem I'm having is that flash adds a ton of points to my vector artwork created in Illustrator when I import it. Since I'm using shape tweens I can't have this. Is there any way to keep it from doing this? thanks!
Im afraid not. the reason Adobe has ruled the industry for years is cleaner code. Macromedia has some pretty cool code of their own in adding bitmap qualities to their vector artwork which give you the ability to do tweens and tranparancies etc. but you will simply have to get good with shape hints for your shape tweening. As far as keeping the layers you may have to export as a series of .swf's and import one at a time. Play around with the export options in illustrator and you come up with something that will work.
