I posted this in the Vista forum, but they suggested to come here. Anyway, I have a file share on a DC and I can not access this from Vista. I have no problem accessing this from any other OS. Furthermore whenever I attempt to access a file share it locks the account out (on the first try). I've checked the event viewer and all I see are records in the Security logs that tell me that the account has been locked out.

Also, it is probably pretty important to mention that the Vista machine is not a member of the domain (but rather just the default "WORKGROUP." I don't really have any desire to join the domain (this is a computer in my house) if I don't have to. I just want to be able to get to the file shares by typing in the domain\username and password. I don't know why it isn't working. Is there something different with how Vista is attempting to access the share(I have also turned the Vista firewall completely off, so I don't think that this is the problem)?

Thanks in advance,

J

Sorry to bump my own thread, but does anyone have any thoughts on this? Could it be a DNS problem or would that matter?

I don't quite understand, what do you mean reconfigured your connection settings? Also could you elaborate on the "user security option"?

Thanks for the help,

J

Well, weird thing here, but it seems to be working. Instead of using the GUI I used the "net use..." command from the command line and it works. Now I can log in. Hmmmm.

At least I can get around it.
