Problem backing up Exchange brick level on W2K running Exchange 5.5 2

I'm having a problem with my backup which is running on W2k SP3 using ARCserve 11.0 (build 2670) I keep getting the following error in my log.

Backup Operation Failed.


I tried giving rights to the DBAgent as suggested by CA. This did not fix the problem. When I try to setup the Exchange Configuration Agent\Brick Level Configuration, I get a error message:Failed to configure your server.Any help with this would be greatly appericated.

I have given up on brick level mailbox backups a long, long, time ago. They are slow and a constant battle. For the cost of an agent licence you can purchase Ontrack Power Controls. With this utility you can open a full Exchange DB backup and restore a single mailbox or even a single e-mail. It is your best freind during a disaster.

Backups and Restores much, much faster....

You need to take a look at the exchverify.log to see why the authentication is failing.

Thanks for all the tips.After reviewing a tip from FAQ to make sure the DBAGENT mailbox was empty, I went into the properties of the DBAGENT. The mailbox was in Exchange Administrator but on the advance tap the mailbox home server was pointing to our old exchange server that had been removed.I was not able to delete the mailbox but was able to rename it and create a new one.Once I did this, I was able to run the Exchange agent configuration utility with no error message.My backup ran fine last night.
