This is the issue I am having. After joining my computer to the newly created domain, After logging in it freezes on 'Applying Computer Setttings' I booted in safe mode and disable the adapter logged back in locaally and checked the dns setting. It is set for 192.168.1.5 my domain controller which also is a dns and dhcp server. When looking in Active directory users and computers it does show the workstation and its dns suffix(computername.domainname.com). The dns forward zone is set to dns.domainname.com and the reverse is 192.168.1xsubnet. I also have dhcp scope for the lan activated. I can ping the workstation from server both with ip address and computer name. Any suggestions or things I have missed would be greatly appreciated. Bill your help is always useful. Thanks in advance.

I may have found the problem. When clicking on name server it lists the dns server name correctly but the ip address was a public address. I changed this and hopefully that is what the problem was.

What is going on here? When I ping the server or workstation by hostname it gives me a 63.0.0.0 type address. It says it is resolving the name.domainname.com but the ip address is the one that was in the name servers tab uin properties of the forward lookup zone?

When I click on resolve in name server for forward and reverse lookup zone I get this 63.0.0.0 ip address.
