Problem accessing FTP Site

I have recently switched all of our Divisions over to Windows 2000 server from a Novell server. Everything seemed to go fine. However, one of the divisions is unable to access the ftp site of one of our clients. They are able to access other ftp sites. Also, I am able to access the problem ftp site from the other divisions so I know that the ftp site is up and running. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem might be?

First thing you should do is ping the IP address of the FTP site from both the domain that can't connect and then from a domain that can. If the IP address can't be resolved, try to ping the name. If neither can be resolved, check your DNS settings from the domain that can't connect. It sounds like a bad (A) record or a bad (PTR) record or both. Maybe neither are actually set up in the DNS server that is authoritative in the domain.
