I have windows XP workstation in a network , in a workgroup , when i tried to acces from another computer in the network it prompts with guest account and password

it wont give me option to change user account

Please help me

Thanks

The reason that it is asking for the guest account is because it realizes that the account you logged on to the other computer with is not recognized by the XP computer.

You have to setup that username and password with permissions on the XP computer itself or you can setup your whole domain to have permissions to that XP computer.

To do this go to Control Panel --> User Accounts and add the user you are trying to log on to the network with. Make sure that the domain is the same as your network and not the name of the XP computer when you add the user.

The other thing you can do is make the guest account password nothing on the XP computer, this is not the most secure method though.

i tried that still does not work , i tried to acces omputer in a workgroup, from another computer it only gives me option of guestuser i cannot change to another user , it happens to all the pcs which comes whith factory install from dell , IBM.

thanks
