Well, now i have a desktop and 2 laptops home.
The laptops are joined a domain belong to my school.
The desktop is just in its workgroup.

Ok, i put these three together with a hub. In My network places one of the laptop and the desktop can see each other. The other laptop can't see others or be seen.
I use ipconfig /all on the two laptop, the major difference is

Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : Yes
DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : student1.school.ca

VS

Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid
WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No

I tried release and renew, doesn't work

i don't know much about networking, anyone can help?
Thanks

i mean the first ipconfig result is from the one not working

and i also found the not working one has a line

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2:

VS working one:

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

release and renew will not have any effect unless you have a DHCP server on your network. Make sure that the IPs are in the same range eg: 192.168.0.xx and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.000.

Chris. Indifference will be the downfall of mankind, but who cares?
