i am using exchange 5.5, sp4, running on Win 2K Server. the hard disk that hosts .piv and .pub folders which also is RAID 5 is near capacity.

I have ordered a new one to replace the existing one and is due on few weeks time.

Is there anything i should know prior to loading the harddisk onto the server? any recomedation, please advise if possible?

Also, if there are info i need to supply, please advise it too.

Cheers,

If you can have both old and new at once, I would set up the new disk and use the Exchange optimiser to move it. Otherwise, set the Exchange services to disabled, stop them, backup the physical files, replace the disk(s)(reboot), set them up with the same drive letter, restore the files and away you should go.
Pretty basic really, just don't let the services try to start until it is all back on the correct drive letter.
Good luck.

As an emergency, see how has huge mailboxes and get them to reduce the size. (this WILL NOT reduce the size of your stores on the Hard Disk (unless you run a defrag and it does sound like you've got enough space to do this).

It will ensure that you do not completely run out of HD space before the HD's arrive
