I have a printer connected to a Win98 and shared to the network. The printer (HP 3420) is only designed for WIN 95/98 and I think 2000. Unfortunitly I have NT machines on the network. Everytime I try to install the printer over the network onto the NT machine it wants to install the drivers and of course the driver is not compatible with NT. The NT boxes and the 98 box can see each other and can get on the eachother file systems, so why isn't the dang thing using the driver on the 98 machine and spooling the print job straight through the printer.

I don't think there's an NT4 driver for this printer, but might be worth trying the Win2K one - just possible it might work...

try

or

both of these have drivers for 9x/me/win2k/xp mac (yuk!!) if you have the latest service packs installed try using the win2k drivers or the win 98 (sometimes works) or install standard universal deskjet drivers.

hope this helps If it annoys Microsoft then it's worth doing, and doing well!!
