Hi,

I am pretty new to citrix, and have inherited a single server citirx environment with roughly 60 users. Server is 2003, with no Service Pack, Citrix is FP3. I have printers installed on the server, the 12 users that i have internally can print fine via ICA, and RDP. The external users who use a variety of platforms, Win2000, WinXP, do not have their local printers redirected.

If they connect via RDP then their printers are available, and they can print fine.

I get an Event ID 1103 in the application log. I have looked at the tech articel at support.citrix that does not seem to remedy the problem.

Any help is most appreciated.

Many Thanks

If you open mfcfg (command prompt) and look at the Client settings for ICA connections. Are client printers allowed ?

Are there any policies set up in the CMC that might restrict the printers?

I have just checked via mfcfg and that shows me that client redirection on the ica connections are allowed.

How do i check for CMC policies ??

Many Thanks

You need to run up the Citrix Management Console. On the left hand pane will be a policies section. You can then view properties of any policy you see. It does sound like a driver issue tho. You have to have the right driver installed on the Citrix server.

I dont seem to have a Policies entry on the left in the CMC

all that i do have is :
Applications
liceses
load evaluators
Metaframe XP Administrators
Print Management
resource manager
servers

Do i need to enable this or add it somewhere ??

Many Thanks

You need to upgrade your Citrix Management Console to the one on the FR3 CD too. By the sounds of it you may or may not have any set up, but you should at least see it.

By the looks of it you should also be seeing Instalation Manager too.

How many citrix boxes you got ?

as far as i know, the CMC was installed from the FP3 CD.

We have only one citirx server.

If i do a re-install of the cmc will that kick of any current users that are on at the moment.

Many Thanks

I would be installing it on your local PC. Never install stuff on a Citrix box with users on it.

Problem i have is that the CMC, and all the other management utilties have been installed on the server. I manage the server remotely, i am about 60 miles away, and only have vpn access in.

All the media is also at the remote site.

Which cd do i need to install the CMC on my computer ?

Many Thanks

I couldn't tell you, think it will probably be on the components cd. But if you are thinking that way, you could get someone to pop them in the Server CD tray and have a look yourself.
