hi drigger,
Printers usually goes in Dev_wait condition when there is a lack of communication
b/w print device and print driver. The most probable causes of the condition are hardware related so pls check cable connections, paper jam conditions, print server h/w
condition(if any). And if you are facing this problem after an upgrade to AIX4.x from AIX3.x then probably your cables don't follow rs-232 standards (b/c AIX4.x adhere to
rs-232 standards. So begin to use cables with atleast 8 wires and enable h/w flow control. So begin troubleshooting with checking
1.cables conditions/cables standards
2.Flow control

regds
shiraz
