Hi All,

I m having win2k network with win2k server with ADS configured on it. I m facing the problem with printing . I hae installed printer on windows Xp workstation and its printing fine throght windows NT workstations and Xp workstations but when i try to print from LAPTOP having O.S XP it always asks for Authentication for Printer. My LAPTOP is also in domain. Aslam

Well the problem is the following, you are not being authenticaded. Two things could be happend:
First if you use permanent IP address in the domain you must have the DC on the dns section of the tcp/ip properties. If this is not the case, you should go to the xp machine that has the printer install and check the share and security opcions and give the user or a group the user you are using on the laptop.
Give me more info regarding this things.
i could help more.
Hope this helps

HI Lovalles ,

Thanks for your help but i got the solution for my problem.

This was happening cause of local policy of the XP machine on which i have installed printer. Actually i m able to print but after some time it asks me for passwors for the printer so i checked the local securuty policy of that Xp pc. And i got the policy because of that it is asking me for the passsword.

That policy is

Micorsoft network Server : Amount of Ideal time required before susprnding session.

and value for taht is 15 mins . I increased the time to 12 hrs. Now i m not facing that problem

thanks for ur help.
