I am using Quark 6 and Acrobat 6.0 Pro. running 10.2.8 on Dual G5 and I seem to run into a problem printing PDF's placed in QX6. Not all PDF's, only a few every now and then. They print out of QX5 fine. Since the PDF's are generated by outside agencies I thought I'd try this before tearing them apart. I have found a work around by saving the PDF as a postscript and re-distilling it in Acrobat 5.0, but I'm hoping someone might have a better solution. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Do you know what version the pdfs are that you're having problems with? Is there something similar in all of them? (ie; a spot color, certain logo or image or font, page size, app created with, anything....) What happens if you open them in Illustrator? Do they look correct there?

What exactly is happening? When I place pdfs in Quark 5 on our PC, fonts don't come out right and I have to place them in InDesign. (I know it's not the same as what you're asking, but maybe it's related!) I haven't had to print many pdfs from Quark 6 on Mac... the few I have done printed out fine though.

The problem is that the page containing the suspect PDF does not print. It will spool to the printer but then nothing prints. As I mentioned earlier I haven't really torn them apart but none seem to have any common elements. Some are color and some black and white. Thay are all advertisements but from diffrent agencies. suspect fonts sound like a good cause and maybe version 3.0 Acrobat files could be it also. Opening them in illustrator produces inconsistant results, but never look "O.K"(fonts / images left out or invisible). My fist instinct points to PDF settings but I will not know until further invetigation. Thanks for the response and I'll try to keep this thread updated with any new findings.
