Printing over RDC freezes software

printer---PC ==================== Windows XP PC (RDC)



I have a user that prints from his remote PC (in the office), to his local printer (at home).

Problem is the print has to travel over the internet (via VPN) to his printer at home. During this time the software that sends the print job locks up until the document is sent to the remote printer (takes on average 45sec).

As any faced this problem and have a solution to improve situation?

Can he try saving the doc locally and then printing? Or is he running the app from the office?
