Hello!
I'm having trouble installing a printer onto my Linux machine (it's running Mandrake ProSuite 8.2, the printer is a STAR TSP550II serial printer).
The problem seems to be this: I install the printer via /dev/ttyS0 (i.e. the serial port) using the control center. When i finish, it tells me the system is printing to /dev/ttyS0. BUT when I quit control center it won't print! And if i re-enter the control center to check it out, I'm told the system is printing to /dev/null: that's no good to me! :-(
why is this happening? I can print out to the printer using the following command:
cat salt.txt >/dev/ttyS0
So i know the printer is working OK.
any ideas? is there a printer configuration file that i can edit like /etc/printcap or something?
any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
