I have a DOS application running for many years. I print to Com1 an Epson tm-u295 printer. The application does not printunder Win2000 or XP - but prints fine under Win9x.
I run a test on win2000 by running
dir *. >com1 , and it is printing but not in the clipper executable. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

You should search this forum for "print 2000" and you'll find some solutions... ;-)

Thank TonHu for the quick reply,

But i have gone through the print 2000 forum and the answer has not solve my problem yet. The executable was compiled with summer 87 while the other answer make reference to CA-Clipper highter version. On dos or windows everything is printing fine except when printing is being run within the dos executable.

thanks

Can't you recompile the app with Clipper 5.2e?
I understand it can give some trouble, but even the 5.2e compiler is quite old, let alone the S'87 release, that's archeology s-)

ReRoute your one of your lpt ports to the com port using command mode lpt1=com1 (or lpt4=com2) or whatever. Then print to that port in clipper as per normal.
I gather the problem related to xp security and permissions - ian boys seem to know more about that but my suggestion above is an easy workaround
