This might sound like a dumb question, but how do I share printers with two xp systems. They are both connected to a router that is connected to a cable modem. Any links to instructions?

First, Microsoft File and Printer sharing must be installed, unless it already is. Then go to Printers and Faxes, right click the printer and select Sharing. Enable sharing. On the other PC, go to Printers and Faxes, select add a printer, select a networked printer or a printer attached to another computer, then click Browse and find the printer. Just follow the directions from there.

by default is Microsoft File and Printer sharing installed? This question is actually for my friend and he just loaded xp onto it a few days ago.

Is it instaleld by default when u install xp?? It still cant find the printer from the other computer. Both computers are on the same workgroup and all too. It says i dont even have access to see her computer from mine. When I ping her IP address it replies fine, but i cant even do a net send to her IP address either. What am i doing wrong here, this is really bugging me because its supposed to be so simple!

You also have to share the resource before it can be seen.
