Heres the situation.

We are running a 2000 network and when connecting to printers sometimes it is displayed where it says status unable to connect access is denied. This comes up on printers already added to users machines. There doesnt seem to be a functionality problem everyone can still print, but upper management sees the error and has a problem with it. Has anyone experienced something like this before?

I have, but I don't know the solution to that problem. What I did to fix mine whas configured an IP address and gateway to the printers, installed them on a W2K server, and had the user use that. This was simple since we're converting over to a truly W2K network, I had already configured the printer using free software from HP called hpwebjetadmin. This is neet because you can go into a browser on a W2K pro, go to and it will show you a list of printers installed on the server. You just click on the printer you want, the next screen gives you an option to connect on the left hand side, and it automatically installs it on your pc. Check it out if you can. Good luck. Glen A.
