I have to set up a printer for an accounts package written in dos. When i go to :printer Properties and then ports it will not allow me to tick the Printer pooling box as its shaded grey. How am i able to do this please

Scottlem,

I've double-checked my findings. After messing with many variations, the only instance when the printer spooling is greyed is when inappropriate rights are administered to the user. Hope this helps. -md

My experience of the matter: It is only enabled when two or more printers are setup.

However, may be you are experiencing a problem that many, including I have discussed before, infact last week.

I got a good answer that seemed to work. An DOS program; working well under Win95/98 but does not print under win2k.

Have you mapped the printer to the lpt port?
Use the command:

net use lpt1: \\<server>\<printer> /p:y

Note there is a space after 'lpt1:'

Try printing.
