Printer kills internet connection.....

Each time a friend of mine uses his printer while he is on the internet, his connection is dropped.
The System is an HP 500. running Windows 98.
The printer is an Epson stylus 925.
The Modem is a Conexant Soft K56 Data Fax PCI
If it helps, his ISP is Freeserve.co.uk and they have been no help to him at all.

Has anyone any ideas how to resolve this?
