1. printer prints OK ( 4000N) however banding has developed down the right hand side. a new toner cart does not fix this.

2. the 5N, printing OK but very faint down the left hand side, new toner cart tried, still the same.

thanx in advance If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

Has someone been using the printer to print labels - or even produce overheads on clear film?

From your description, I'd guess that something is making toner stick to a roller.

so would you suggest a look at the fuser roller ? they can be real difficult to clean, can you recommend any ointments for this job ? If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

I'd call out a service engineer and get it cleaned - you're right, it's a horrible, fiddly job.

I'm assuming that you have a Service contract and that this is not a home printer.

Plus, if it's done this way, you won't invalidate the warranty.

yup that sounds like the best bet, i just thought if it was relativly easy then i would have had a butchers myself, minus the hammer ! If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

There should be a couple of corona wires, these can be cleaned with alcohol soaked cotton swab. Also swab out the boxes that these are in. This might fix both problems.
laquer thinner will clean toner off rubber rollers and fuser rollers.

DO NOT TOUCH DRUM SURFACE, ANY CONTACT CAN RUIN THE DRUM.
DO NOT BREAK THE CORONA WIRES, OR YOU'LL BE OUT OF BUSINESS UNTIL THEY ARE RESTRUNG OR REPLACED.
