Whenever I launch MS Word 2007 it takes forever and I end up in closing the application. I later found out that it has something to do with my Printer's folder in the Control panel. Whenever I have network printers mapped to any logon user, MS Word and Printer folder hangs. Any suggestion is grateful.

Thanks for the response. I start having this problem right after I install Windows Vista Enterprise with Office 2007 Professional.

It doesn't matter how I start Word, MS Word will hang no matter what. If all the mapped printers are mapped and status is ready then MS Word has no problem launching. I will post the problem in the Office forum. Thanks!

I'm thinking that perhaps if I get the network printers working, MS Word will be resolved. The question is, I'm not sure what else to troubleshoot my network printers.

When I got into Printers folder, it will try to load all the printers for a very long time and never seems to stop at trying to load them.

As far as the Printers are concerned, these two statements seem to be a contradiction?

"If all the mapped printers are mapped and status is ready then MS Word has no problem launching".

"Whenever I have network printers mapped to any logon user, MS Word and Printer folder hangs".

I don't know whether anything in these documents applies to your setup or not.

What I meant by those two statements is that if there is no network printers associated with the profile then there is no problem with printers folder or MS Word. As soon as there is any network printers associated with the user's profile then the printers folder and MS Word will hang indefinitely.

Okay, I guess I've narrow down to what the problem is. Here's the System event log that relates to when the network printer is mapping.

So far I'm unable to find a solution for this error.

Okay, here's something new I found. If I log in ad the local administrator and mapped the network printers then I do not see the above error. However, if I logged in as a network user even with local admin previliage, I will receive the above error. So I'm guessing that it has something to do with permission somewhere in the registry.

Okay, I just finish reading the post on that link. I am not using small business server and I don't use the RTM version. I'm using Enterprise version and also with print server. All my printers are managed by the print server. Yes, if I bypass the print server and connect the printer directly by using IP and then it works fine. But I want to connect to my network printers through the print server. Are there other options?

Hi Okayokayjustme...

I am using Vista Home premium and have the same exact symptoms that you have (network printers cause my MS Office products to hang when trying to print, and my print folder hangs as well). I have a simple Linksys Wireless network (but my PC and the PC with the shared printer are hardwired). We have a Epson CX3800 series printer on one PC that is shared. All other XP platforms print fine from it, but my Vista Home PC hangs trying to use it). Has me frustrated as all hell.

Are there any updated Vista drivers for your Epson Printer?
