I am getting this error in my aplication log on a Win 2000 server. I am running citrix metaframe Xp on the machine and the print spooler keeps stopping on me. The source is Perflib and the Event ID is 1010. This is the data it gives:
The Collect Procedure for the "Spooler" service in DLL "M:\WINNT\system32\winspool.drv" generated an exception or returned an invalid status. Performance data returned by counter DLL will be not be returned in Perf Data Block. Exception or status code returned is data DWORD 0.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Chris B

There's some information here:

Are you running any particular apps via terminal services/citrix? what version of citrix?

I remember trying to run "primavera expedition" over citrix. It wouldn't print properly until I ran an app from primavera from each user logon to install the printer to their standard.

Installing the latest service pack from citrix may help too.

I am on version 1.0 feature release 3 and service pack 3. The apps that I am running off this server are MS access, Atlas and the desktop. I read the link and everyone mentions that it is a DLL. The file is not a DLL so I do not know if these fixes would apply to me

What exactly is atlas?

Does the spooler crash when trying to print? or does it just not start at all? Is it only happening when in a terminal session? If you run the apps locally, can you print?

Hi brennenpkt,

My guess is that you are using FR3 for Citrix. This is a known issue and is fixed in this hotfix:

The hotfix docs don't mention specifically the crashing spooler problem but it is the fix.

There is a great site for Citrix printing at where lots of people including myself had encountered the same problem.
