Hi wonder if anyone can help. I am extremely new to Netware 6.5. Our Current server is 3.12. I have managed to install pretty well everything our users need to not even notice that the server has been upgraded.
My question is can I re create the printq eniviroment as used on 3.12. I have set up ndps and iprint and they all can work OK. However we have some legacy apps that are hard coded that are set to print to particular printq names.

TIA

The best way is to create print Q objects only for the Legacy Setup. Use the same names you had before if you want. it doesn't matter.

Then, create your NDPS Broker and NDPS Manager, and then the printer agents for each printer.

Finally, Assign the printer agent to service the legacy queue. This is done in the properties of the Printer Agent in NWADMIN. It's in a different spot in iManager and a little harder to find.

Now when your users print, the jobs go to the queues that they are looking for, but you're managing the jobs with NDPS. fairly simple setup.

Marvin thanks for the reply. I am probably being realy thick here, but cant find NWadmin, is console 1 the same?

Also I have managed to find out where in imanager to link a legacy queue to a printer. But what I realy need to know is how to create a printq on the 6.5 server, if this is possible of course.

The path to NWADMIN is SYS:PUBLIC\WIN32\NWADMN32.

Yes you can create a print Queue on NW 6.5. But you need to use NWADMIN32. I don't believe ConsoleOne can do it.

I know this post may be a little late, but I just came across the question.

When I upgraded from Netware 4.11 to 5.1, I had to upgrade the firmware on my jetDirect cards before queue based printing would work. When I moved to Netware 6, I had 2 HP printers that no longer worked because of the JetDirect card had no more firmware upgrades. I had to by 2 more new JD cards and patch those out with the latest firmware. Now all is ok!

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info RJ. We have not gone truly 'live' with our 6.5 servers yet, so this gives me time to run off an audit report of all our JD devices. We have external and Internal devices of all different types and Ages. What was the model that you had to replace?
