This is on an IPO 500 running 4.07 and VM Pro.
I’m also running faxes of the IPO.
I have a site that is having a lot of problems with inbound calls on a PRI.
Static, drop calls, not being able to dial anything once you get into the voicemail
This is not a problem with the IP office or the PRI board.
The PRI is clean (no errors) (It’s set for NI-2, ESF, B8ZS)

I have been using monitor to observe calls coming in on the PRI.

I’m seeing calls come in with the bearer capability of speech and audio 3k1 ?
When I call from my office phone (We have an Options 11 with a PRI)
The calls are going into the IPO with a bearer capability set for audio 3k1
The calls sound horrible, so much static that you can’t hear each other.
This only happens on calls to this IP Office; all my other’s IP Office’s are fine.

When I call the IPO from my cell phone the bearer capability is set for speech.
Calls sound great.

When I call from a fax machine to one of their fax machine the bearer capability is set for audio 3k1.
But I see other faxes coming in with the bearer capability set for speech.

After my long winded explanation, I have a general question about bearer capability on a PRI.

What should the bearer capability be set for on a normal call ?
What should be bearer capability be set for on a fax machine call ?
Is Audio 3k1 used in the US ?

My conclusion was that the bearer capability should always be set for speech and that this is a service provider issue.

The service provider disagrees.

I’m just looking for other people’s opinions

Two different PRI and legacy cards.
Brand new IP 500 chassis.
Same results
That's why I don't think this is an IPO problem

I never had to delve down this deep into a PRI before and I’m just looking for general information on bearer capability. I’ve also seen it set for speech.

Sounds like you have a timing problem. Make sure the clock source is set to network.

Use the SSA application to see if there are any error's on the PRI lines. These are output in 15 minutes intervals on the line tab.
There should be no error's no slips etc. under normal conditions.
