We have several PRI using NFAS. T1 has the PRI on channel 24, T2 has the backup D on channel 24. The other day we lost T1 and the primary D. Shouldn't the backup D have taken over without any interuption in service? In otherwords just 23 B would have dropped calls since T1 took the hit. T2 should have continued going without incident.

Am I correct on this? Or is there a setting I need make in the signaling group or elswhere to make this seemless.

Thanks,

Ray

It should have been seemless. If you do a "status signal X" it should show the primary "active" and the secondary "standby". It sounds like your secondary may have been "out-of-service" at the time of the outage or possibly all along. Status it now. Either both D-channels took hits or it may be incorrectly programmed on the LEC side. There are no settings to make it not automatically switch over. Also check your synchronization sources. Make sure you have a primary and backup defined. if you only have a primary, and that was the T-1 that went down, you may have lost synch causing the drop. -CL
