Preventing Database Conversion

Hello.

Is there any way to prevent database conversion? For example, my users are using an Access 97 database, and they only need to use it on Access 97. One my users opened the database using Access 2000, and corrupted the database. Is there a way to check to see what version the database is, and if it's not 97, make all the queries, links, tables, forms inactive?
