hi everyone. I have a WK3 server and about 50 winxp clients. I use group policies to bolt everything down. As you all know one can create a list of predetermined urls through group policy. So when my pupils logon they can go to Favourites and click on the urls i have set up. This is my problem: pupils are adding their own urls to the Favourites and i want to stop this. Don't get me wrong: my predetermined urls are still present after logon/logoff but so are theirs! I can't find any option within the GPO to stop this. Anybody know of a workaround. Thanks
Try and have a good day everyone.

OK,

I found this:

but as it is a registry hack I dont know if it will be of use as am not sure if you can deploy such things through GPO. If you can then this could be a solution as you would just implement the change described and on the network folder only allow read privileges to users.

thanks maximusimo! i'll try this. Anybody know how to convert .reg files into adm files that can be rolled out via GPO? thanks

Do you have mandatory profile for the pupils? You could try only giving them read access to the favourites folder in the profile
