Hello!
I have this case:
-a LAN with Win2K Pro and WinNT Workstation computers in the same domain
-a shared folder on a computer with Win2K Pro
-a local group with a number of users from domain
-I give full acces on share permissions for this group
-I give all the rights except delete , delete folders and files, change permissions and take ownership in security tab of folder for this group, because I want that members from this group to have the possibility
to edit files but not deleting them.
The problem is:
When someone open a Excel file from the shared folder across the network, change something in it and try to save the file, he gets an message which say that the Excel can't rename the file and it has created a file with a random name on the shared folder which can be renamed later so the original file remain unchanged.
This thing doesn't happen with a text file opened with Notepad.
It is possible to edit a Excel file from a shared folder and save it without having the permission to delete it?
Thank you!
