Firewire for capturing
Sony GV-D1000 DV deck

I am a HS journalism/video teacher and recently got Premiere 6.5 installed on our "master" editing suite computer. I get deck control and video in the capture screen; however, on clicking record or capture, a pulldown darkened screen appears with instructions to restart. I have never in 10 years working with Macs seen this screen. What is the problem?!

The GV-D1000 DV deck is not compatible with Premiere 6.5

I tried the same thing.

I was able to use a different piece of software to collect video from the deck, but it caused trouble to edit.

You might attempt to use iMovie to extract your video, and then try importing it into Premiere and see if that works. On my PC, this didn't work, but on your Mac, it might.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Crimeny, your awesome!! I captured in iMovie and imported to Premiere and it worked fine. I then tried to import from a GL2 and had no issues. One question, is there any quality degradation importing from iMovie vs. stright to Premiere?

Thanks!! Rob

None whatsoever, sir. It's all digital video and it's lossless.

Happy to be of service!

Cheers,
