I recently shot a music video on DV. The footage was captured in Premiere 6.5 as AVI files. When exporting my finished video, I used the Mpeg Encoder in 6.5 and exported the video to different types of files, DVD, MPEG2, but have yet to be pleased with the video quality. There is a significant drop from the original DV quality. Any help here? It would be much appreciated.

A quick search of this forum would have shown you there is a known quality issue with the Adobe Premiere 6.5 MPEG encoder. Google on 'tmpgenc' and see where that leads you.

I have done more than a quick search in these forums, but I did not find a clear solution.

What I've found out on my own is that I may have to look into something like Cinepak or Sorenson so that I can compress my files in a less harsh manner than what Premier 6.5 seems to do.

I haven't used Sorenson, but Cinepak and TMPGenc have both been recommended encoders on this forum many times (search "MPEG encoders"). Good luck.
