Hey all!

I have made two seperate flash 4 .swf files that I am embedding in a .htm file with DreamWeaver. How do I make a preloader for the entire page(as in both .swf files and a frame that I have inserted between them that will contain some text)?

Is this possible?

Thanks,

Is your page entirely flash?

If so... Is this two seperate things going on, or one plays, and then the other plays when the first one is done?

Perhaps you could append the movies and insert the frames inbetween them? Then you could have a pre-loader for just the one movie...

Well, it was entirely flash but I have chosen to break it up so that I can have a scrollable text field in it. Both .swf files are to be played at exactly the same time. This is why I want a preloader. They will look silly if they don't do this.

How would I go about appending the movies to insert the frames between them to allow for a preloader for just one movie? Whew, thats a mouthful.

Thanks man,

Alright, I guess appending isn't the way to go...

There is a help section called "creating interactive movies" in Flash. In there is a topic called um... something like "loading & controling additional movies" or something of the like.

I was thinking: Maybe make a little movie that will in itself be a preloader. Put some actionscript in that would basically be the same as any other preloader, but instead of refering to scenes in the movie that's playing, it would be referring to scenes in the movie that you are loading. Maybe you could put a preloader in one of the movies that could load and play the two movies at the same time, or at least play them at the same time. I have a feeling that it could be done that way.

I don't know how much actionscript you know, I know very little, but I assume this can be done. It seems likely, anyways. I guess I'm not much help, but check out the help files, and read some of the actionscript stuff I guess, if that doesn't help.

Can't say I didn't try! :)
