I found a preloader tutorial written in Actionscript 2 for flashplayer 7. I have set it up, but for some reason if the movie is viewed on an older flashplayer it just sits on the opening screen and does not prompt to download the newer flashplayer.

The link is
Is there a way to make this happen. I thought it would happen automatically, but thats not the case.

Are you publishing the movie only for the Flash 7 player?
Outside of the preloading script, have you used Flash MX2004 only features in the movie and must you imperatively publish for 7?

This line in your html's object tag is only checking for the presence of the Flash player 6...

...codebase="
It should be 7, something if you want it to be checked for the Flash player 7...

Can't really help you more than that since I'm not on MX2004, so check out the object's tag in a published html out of MX2004...

Okay, I didn't publish it within flash.
I was just popping the .swf into the html file. Once I published it as an html within flash it seems to work just right. Thanks
