Pre and Post Commands didnot complete in time

I am using Veritas Back up 8.5 to back up data from Win2K server, back up is failing and giving the following error messages -

Starting Pre Job Command < c:\beutils\pre.bat >
Error: Pre Job Command did not complete in time.

Starting Pre Job Command < c:\beutils\post.bat >
Error: Post Job Command did not complete in time.

Please provide suggestions what can i do to fix this issue.
