Practicing with SNA server

When you say "practice" - are you referring to APPC/CPIC application development - or do you need to "practice" with the PU 2 connection.
A PU 2 connection can only be provided by a VTAM instance, as far as I know.
You can establish 2 Windows SNA nodes going to the same HIS instance, and run APPC back and forth between them.
That requires some sever games, but is known to work.
I'm not sure that is what you need.

To my knowledge, there are no SNA nodes available for public use. Remember, SNA doesn't talk to strangers!!
In terms of simulated SNA nodes within an IP network, you are way, way deep into an arena that will probably require considerable time from a specialist in the area.
There are some good folks in this forum, and one of them may have the exact anwer you need. Barring that extreme good fortune - no there are no web sites on the subject that I know of.
Time to think about professional assistance.

If I am not mistaken SNA Server comes with a demo Mainframe emulator program for testing. I know when I took the class that we used to set up sessions and login to 3270 sessions. I have heard of people using it since though I have not had the need. You might try posting this question on the Host Integration Web Site (community forum) at Microsoft.com

I have some information on Iring's excellent Post.
(1) Yes - absolutely - the HIS CLIENT comes with a piece of software (the 3270 client), that you an use to log into 3270 sessions.
HOWEVEVER
(a) to my knowledge, a 3270 session from the 3270 client can only be established if HIS or SNA sever has a PU2 connection to a VTAM (SNA) node, and the VTAM node has defined within it LU 2 definitions that go to a mainframe application that supports LU2 connections (sub area networking).
(b) The 3270 client is LU2. I took the nature of your question on "practice" to indicate that you wanted to do Application to Application testing (APPC/CPIC/LU 6.2.) There is no support for Windows to Windows LU 2 that I know of.
(c) In theory, HIS supports WINDOWS to WINDOWS LU 6.2 connections, but, again to my knowledge, only with an intermediate VTAM (SNA mainframe) node. I've thought about trying to use DLS without an intermediate SNA node, but I somehow doubt that that would work.

It is TRUE that Host Integration Server comes with an SNA Demo link service. The demo service is good looking but tells you little about whether your setup will work on real hardware. It simply puts up a realistic looking TSO session -EVEN WHEN THE SERVERR HAS NO PHYSICAL CONNECTION TO ANY NETWORK. Having said that - its not half bad. You can actually "LOGON". But if you note that you didn't need a login pw and that you can't do most TSO commands - you realize that you are not talking to a real TSO instance.
