HI.

A small netwrok is using ISA as firewall on the main office,
and at a remote office they have about 3 PC, one of them is a W2K pro which is using ICS to provide Internet connection via its internal ISDN card.

The remote office needs VPN connection to the main office.

The question is:
Can a PPTP work from a client at the remote office which is behind ICS, to the ISA at main office?

More info:

I know that this is not a good solution in security perspective.

There is currently no server and no router at the remote office.

Our company will suggest them a better solution with a possible dedicated VPN+FW+ISDN router box, but I would like to know if the PPTP behind ICS is possible at all or not.

I have not made in field nor lab testing because I didn't have the time for it yet, and the remote office is quite far to go there only for testing.

If more details are needed, please tell me.

Thanks.

No, you cannot creat a vpn tunnel behind ICS. You can use a router that supports PPTP passthrough (to a vpn server), ISA server at the branch office to creat a vpn tunnel between offices, RRAS with NAT or a router that does vpn.
