I am creating hyperlinks in my file to link to another page inside the same powerpoint document; however, once I e-mail the presentation, the hyperlink doesn't work. When I go to edit hyperlink, the hyperlink has changed to a location on my hard drive (e.g. ../../Local Settings/Temporary Internet Files/OLKA1/PkgHandling_short.ppt#27. Action Plan – Timeline of Events)

HELP

mssbass,

From your post, I believe that you want to "jump / link / hyperlink" to a particular page in one powerpoint presentatino?.

If that's a yes...then the trick is to use "action settings". any object/text/box/pix can have an "action setting" assigned to it.

Right click your object then choose "action settings"...then choose "mouse click" > "hyperlink" > click the drop down..and choose "slide". Then pick the slide you want to jump to.

By using "action settings" instead of "insert > hyperlink" the link always works. Where as the insert > hyperlink can get messed up with relative vs absolute stuff.

Thanks so much for helping me with internal hyperlinks. What about hyperlinks between 2 presentations? Is there a way to do this as well? or not?

If you have all the presentations (.ppt or .pps) in the *** SAME *** directory as your main presentation (e.g. the one that calls up the other presentation), then linking does indeed work, even after emailing & saving the files.

See this tutorial for details on the exact linking method (it's not your normal insert>hyperlink method).
