Powerpoint 2003 incorrect word break when wrapping

I found when I write a multi-line sentence in a text box (placeholder), it breaks the words incorrectly when line wrapping, like

the words should not be bre
aked.
---------------------------

This correct line wrapping should be

---------------------------
the words should not be
breaked.
---------------------------

I checked all the options in Powerpoint but cannot find one to fix this. Could someone help me? Thank you!

right click text box. select format text box, under text box tab choose word wrap......

of course I did this, but like I said, it did wrap but broke one single word to two lines, instead of wrapped the whole word to the second line.
