Powerpnt.exe does not terminate when application closed

I am currently experiencing a problem with office 97 on a Windows 2000 proffessional workstation.

From a reboot, when powerpoint is run and closed, windows holds the Powerpnt.exe process open.

I have un-installed and re-installed office.

From a Run dialogue box I have run powerpnt.exe /unregserver and powerpnt.exe /regserver. Neither of these have worked.

Please help!
