Poweron Password in Armada E500

A user has forgotten the power on password of his Armada E500 laptop. We have removed the battery and left it overnight but when we return and power on the laptop, we are still being prompted for the password. What can I do to reset it?

You may have to contact the manufacturer, and prove its' owner. Many laptops are "Bios locked", and a real hassle to unlock to prevent theft.
