I am using Windows 2000 Pro (and new to Win 2k) and have written an application that makes database connections using database location paths stored in the registry. If I am logged in under PowerUser why can I not retrieve a value from the registry? As administrator I have no problem.

The registry has permissions (similar to file & folder) associated with its various branches. You can use regedt32, security menu (as opposed to regedit) to change permissions - so if you know which reg entries are affected, you can make them available to Power Users (obviously need to be logged on as Administrator to do this)

Administrators are the only people who have access to registry ..
if you want to access the registry as a power user ,, ask your administrator to use regedt32 , and give you the privilage you need to access specific location ,, so that the database will be able then to do the work ..
