Does anyone know where / how to get a solid filled box with cross hatch lines?

I can get color gradients of all types, solids of any color but I cannot find the standard diagonal cross hatch fill.

Even weirder is that you can Copy a shape with pattern fills FROM word and paste them IN PPT and it's still pattern filled.

It probably won't help you, but pattern fills are reinstated in PPT2010 ...

Gruuuu,

Thanx! A colleague used Excel cell interior pattern and that seemed to work as well.

I found that link in the unlikeliest of places: The Powerpoint Help file, after searching for pattern fills.

Ib what Help TOPIC was that contained, Gruuuu?

Actually, by formatting a block of cells in Excel and then experimenting with copying a different number of cells and applying to the Object > Fill > Picture or Texture Fill -- Insert from: CLIPBOARD, you can affect the granularity of the pattern, in ways that a strict pattern fill is not able to display.

Skip: I searched for pattern fills in the powerpoint help dialog, and that was the first link, categorized by [gray]Link[/gray], under the tab Office. There was no topic associated with it, unless I am misunderstanding your question.
