My computer has been having random power failures during use. I took it in to the shop, and they said all of the hardware checked out fine, but it might be due to a bug in MS Office. I've never heard of MS Office causing CPU POWER Failure, just non-response.

Has anyone heard of this or have any ideas as to why my computer randomly shuts down?

Thanks!

It just shuts down - without restarting? I doubt there is any way office could do this. I'd be inclined to suspect the power supply or an overheating problem.

I agree with smah. Other things to check.

1) Make sure you are plugged into a power bar that has surge suppression.

2) Swap the power cord from your monitor and cpu. I've seen this instance once with a faulty power cord.
