i want to make a POST call to a servlet but not
using a form

You can open an url, like:
bla bla.asp?name=Harm&place=amsterdam

Better put the string in an unescape though because this would solve your cant use some karacter an a url problem.

I must say I have never tried it though, thats up to you.
