Is it possible to get VB6 to take a screen shot of a web page and save the image to a file? I am trying to get the code to do the same thing as pressing the Alt-Print Scrn keys do and then save the captured image as a bitmap, jpg, gif, etc. The quality of the file is not an issue.

I tried capturing the html of the website to a text file but what I am looking for only appears on a screen shot.

Thank you.

Thank you,

MrMajik

Are you sure? Have you tried the code in thread222-1283556 to see if this captures the HTML any better?

A keyword search in this forum for "screen capture" should reveal a number of examples of how to do this

strongm,

Thank you for the reply. As for the info not being there I viewed the source code for the webpage and did a search on the stock symbol I wanted to find and it is not in the HTML source code.

The two ideas you offered are things I had not considered. I will give them a try.

Thank you,

MrMajik

StrongM, The link you posted gets everything I can already get from the webpage but still not what I really want. I read the site policy and did not see anything on posting links so here is the link to the MSN Stock Screener website that contain stock symbols I am trying to capture from the webpage and into a text file using VB6:

MSN Money Site

Note: Getting to the MSN Stock Screener requires using the Microsoft IE browser. My Mozilla browser does not work on this site.

If you can get this to work you will get a BIG star [thumbsup2]

I imagine the reason you won't find the stock symbols is because the symbols are within the server tags of the asp page which you won't see when you view the page source.

So I'm guessing that you want to;

Print screen
Save image
Search for symbols within the image??

redsmooth,

Thank you for the reply.

I think I posted this in the wrong thread as saving a screen shot of the webpage is no longer an issue.

The MSN screener website displays stock symbols that are not part of the html source code. I suspect that the stock symbols displayed are not in the html code because the only browser I found that will run the screener is the Microsoft IE browser. So we have a Microsoft website that will only display stock symbols from a Microsoft screener while using a Microsoft web browser. I believe Microsoft has something within their browser that allows the stock symbols to be displayed on our monitors without using HTML.
Still, there has to be a way to get these stock symbols into a text file.

Thank you,
