We have two Win XP machines that are in the same workgroup. The machines are in the different cubicles in the same office building but have no access to the internet. They are on the same lan.

Is there any way to set up outlook so that the machines can email each other directly over the lan without adding an exchange server and without accessing the interent.

If this cant be done, can anyone reccomend a free Instant Messenger (other than the Messenger service in XP) that can be used to work on the lan without accessing the internet?

Accessing the internet is not negotiable and we need to find a way for the two users to communicate without running down the hall.

Thanks

If you have an old Win98 machine kicking around, you could set up the old Microsoft Mail Post office & use Outlook as the clients. Outlook 2002 & 2003 need a little bit of modification to make it work, but it does.
