I want to install a 'play and test' exchange server. We have the MSDN subscription exchange, but the only machine I can spare is a 700Mhz celeron with 256Mb of RAM.

I am sure I can get it installed on this, but once running can I 'tune down' the exchange server to use the minimum amount of memory?

There will be 10 test users, the only features we want to configure are exchange and internetmail.

How do I tune for a 'mini exchange'?
What services etc can I shut off?

Thank you,

Carlos

On regular exchange there is not really much to tune.

1. Just make sure your MX and A records are configured properly at you email server/web host (i.e. if email is to myname@mycompany.com).

2. Be sure to put all your Outlook users into the Exchange System (Control Panel, Mail).
