We are taking over another organization and are going to bring their phone service into our system. The problem is that the last 4 digits of their public numbers are 87xx. I believe that's going to conflict with my dial plan (below). I don't want to have to use different internal extensions for them so what do I need to do to allow me to create extensions in the 87xx range? (We currently use 36xx and 51xx for our other DID numbers.)

It looks like you just have 1 extension 87. "ch station 87" and see what it is. Get rid of it and change your dialplan to

87 4 ext

And how would you know that from just looking at his dial plan?

acss sme acis sme acss cm 5.2.1 acss cm and cmm acss aura messaging.

because anything starting with 87 is defined as a 2 digit ext. 87 is already 2 digits long. therefore you have 1 extension in that range and it is extension 87.

AvayaTier3,

I see you added "8 6 ext". What's that for?

I'm trying to figure out what 87 is and can't find it. It's not a station, hunt group or terminating ext group. If I do "disp sta 87" I'm told it exists but is a different object. Not sure what else to look for.

*80/#80, *81/#81, *88 are used in feature access codes, but that's it for 8's.

Can you not run a list trace on your station dial 87 and see what the output is , this should shed some light on the situation , also list usage extension 87 should give you what it is and does.

APSS (SME)
ACSS (SME)
ACIS (UC)

list usage extension 87

If no data to list, you can just remove it from dialplan analysis or change it to 87 ext length of 4

87 ext length 6
87 ext length 2
87 ext length 4

This was just to show the flexibility of what the dialplan will let you use.

Your 2 digit 8x codes are probably being used for console park extensions. If you display console parameters on page 2 you will probably see Common Shared Extensions starting at 81 with a count of 9, meaning 81 to 89 are attendant park codes.
If your attendant doesn't need all of these park codes, you can change the count to 6 which would free up 87 88 and 89 to change on your dial plan as you need.
