Is there a way in ID3 to automatically position a graphic box relative to the spline? I have a graphic with hyperlinks that I want to always position in a fixed place near the outside edge of a page. The problem is that once it is positioned, if I insert or delete an odd number of pages before the page of interest, the graphic does not reposition to the same location relative to the spline.i.e, if it is originally on the right or left side of the page, it changes to being on the inside of the spread and vice versa.

I cannot just place the graphic on a master page, since Masters don't allow hyperlinks. Any help would really be appreciated.

...have you looked into anchored objects?

Andrew

You need place a text box down where the image goes that goes across the page. Then cut and paste the image into the text box, using the text tool, just ctrl + v it into place.

Then select the object, right click (bring up the contextual menu) and go to Anchored Objects.

Then Choose Custom

Then Make it relative to the spine and change the reference point to the left (you'll see the other side jump to the right).

Now say ok.

Move the object into position on your page (it should move freely enough.

Open the Object Sytle Panel (Window>Object Style)

Then with the image selected (not the text box) make a new object style and apply it to that object.

Now any time you have to do this, just paste your image into a text box, then choose your object style and it will automatically align to the spine.

Thanks for your help on this. Seems to work just like I want it to.

Can something like this be done to keep a text box relative to the spine? I have a text box i need to stay on the outside.
